Zweena, Stalisfield, Kent
This is a new build energy efficient house.

ImageThe internal space is circular with eventually an earth bund around this to give thermal mass.

The light enters the building through a central circular courtyard, with a glazed corridor around this.

The roof is covered in Sedum and the structure is heavily insulated to ensure minimum energy costs.

Due to poor ground conditions the foundations are piled with reinforced concrete block walls to retain the earth bund. The roof is constructed using composite ‘I’ section timber joists and glue laminated main beams, supported on timber posts around the central yard.

The building combines, sustainable construction, relatively modern construction and ecologically sound principle of energy conservation.
